As a young boy, I had always wanted to see a Kingfisher. Not until I was about 30 years old, did I get my first glimpse of this very regal and majestic bird.

Sadly, although a very exciting encounter, it was at quite some distance and I had no way of capturing the moment. Seven years later, in August 2004, this stronger than ever desire to not only get clearer views of the bird, but also photograph it was realised

With my newly acquired digiscoping equipment set up, I waited four hours, in the hope this bird would appear. The wait was well worth it. For about one and a half hours, I was graced by the enchanting antics of two of these birds as they fed, preened and rested, right in front of me

The images on this page are examples from over three hundred I took that afternoon.
