This male Kingfisher was very preoccupied with some interesting behaviour; catching and returning Tadpoles as well as blackened Oak leaves from the water. My only guess to date is that it was trying to encourage the female bird, to come and feed; she would appear, very briefly and looking rather flustered, then quickly disappear. I also wondered whether there were juvenile birds in the area. - June 1st 2009
