The Pinewoods at Formby, situated along the coast of Sefton, Merseyside, has been a place Ive visited many times since child-hood. Its woodlands are mainly Pine, with pockets of mixed deciduous trees, such as Oak and Birch. This setting being ideal for Red Fox, Red Squirrel and a good variety of woodland birds including Jay and Goldcrest. Within minutes of the woodland walks are several miles of golden sand beach and dunes; which also play host to various wildlife; including Sand lizards and Natterjack toads; as well as providing the odd glimpse of Grey seals along the coastline. This page Im developing will gradually be filled with images of the natural history found in this magical area of the North West of England. Dappled with shafts of hazy sunshine, the woodland provides a challenge to the skills of any wildlife photographer; when the ingredients come together, images packed with atmosphere, that capture the essence of these woodlands, can be obtained, resulting in great satisfaction.
